A one-stop shop for all things English and maths in your college. A day to discuss policy, strategy, pedagogy and practice based on all aspects of Functional Skills and GCSE maths and English in FE.

AoC’s English and Maths Conference is an invaluable national event that brings together innovative speakers offering you hands-on practical advice and guidance. It will offer you a key chance to discuss with peers solutions to the English and maths challenges every college faces.

We have the following speakers confirmed and some great college case studies for you to learn from, including:

  • Craig Barton, Author, Head of Education at Eedi, and TES Maths Adviser
  • Rachel Boast, Director Maths and English, 16-18, West Suffolk College
  • Kate Burgess, English and Maths Manager, Middlesbrough College
  • Kevin Piper and Sonia Thomas, Education and Training Foundation
  • Jim Addison and Lorna Sutton, Department for Education

The event suits both strategic management and delivery staff.

What did past delegates say?

John Hatton, Head of Pre Advanced Maths and English, Riverside College, Widnes, Cheshire

“The AoC English and Maths Conference provided the ideal opportunity for me to become familiar with current changes in the sector, to discuss topical issues and/or concerns with other managers and to listen to the thoughts/ideas of other providers.”

Jennifer Long, Lecturer, Guernsey College of Further Education

“I had a great experience! I was able to share and receive examples of good practice, receive affirmation that what my college are doing currently is positive and progressive and engage with the support of other professionals and experts around me who share my passion”

Anna Lister, Curriculum Operations Leader, Lakes College West Cumbria

“I’ve already shared some of the resources used at the maths mastery session with my team – they were really impressed. It was really helpful to hear the talk about mindset too; there’s much of it we think we know already, but a bit of reinforcement goes a long way.”
